Welcome to Homework Club!
Monday and Friday: 4:30 - 6:30pm
Wednesday: 6:00 - 8:00pm
In-person
Homework Club is where kids can bring any school work they have been given (they can always ask their teachers for extra work!), and have a space with snacks, supplies, laptops, internet access and tutors to help them with their work, all provided free of charge. Homework club kids get spoiled at WBYO with treats, outings and anything else we can think of! Kids with straight A effort report cards get even more prizes and fun activities of their choice! See below multiple perks, certificates and requirements for being a straight A effort kid.
What Homework Club looks like on Zoom:
Currently, Homework Club runs solely on Zoom, with hopes that we will be back in person as soon as restrictions allow! Right now, we have the same quirky, crazy and amazingly awesome team of staff and volunteers working from home with your kids! We meet at 4:30 as a big group, then split off into breakout rooms with 1 staff member or volunteer in each room! Every student comes to homework club ready to work with all the supplies they need! Staff and volunteers are there to answer any questions students may have while working through their homework!
"But ken! I don't have enough homework!"
All WBYO Homework Club attendees are expected to beg and plead to their teachers to have enough homework to last them until the end of Homework club. That means approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. This approximation excludes the big WBYO opening, closing, and halfway point break!
Our WBYO philosophy is that any kid is unstoppable once they want something badly enough. We want to instill a value of hard work. We also want to empower kids to take initiative with regards to their own success and happiness.

Straight A Effort Rockstars!
Do you want buckets of chicken hand delivered to you in class?
Do you want a trip to Canada's Wonderland or West Edmonton Mall?
Do you want a ride home from school in the WBYO Straight A Effort Superstar-mobile suited up with karaoke, video games, and movies?
These things are just the tip of the iceberg with regards to the perks that a Straight A Effort student gets!
We at WBYO reward academic effort through rewards and prizes that make childhood awesome! Often, students need that first push like an incentive program in order to put in the effort required to succeed. Once a student experiences academic success, what ultimately happens is a uniquely awesome shift from working hard for the perks and prizes, to working hard because they believe in themselves, their capabilities, and are driven by that amazing feeling we get when we are confident in ourselves and our abilities!
Anyone Can Become a Straight A Effort Rockstar!
Straight A Effort is not the same as a straight A report card!
