Movie Book Club
Every Day!
Read the novel, and we will take you to the movie! Each participant is given one week to read the designated book (we can lend you the book in hardcopy or on an e-reader) and submit a book report. If you can do that, we will take you for dinner and to see the movie! You will also get unlimited popcorn!

Mystery Book Search
Every Day!
Comb through our library and find the Mystery Book to win AMAZING prizes. One “Easy Reader” picture book and one Novel are chosen by staff, and if you read that book to a staff or volunteer or submit a book report on it, you win!
Past prizes include: Jets Tickets, Movie Passes, Chapters Gift Cards and a Guitar!
The current prize includes: 2 free passes to any city water park, 2 movie passes, 2 Flying Squirrel passes, 2 Jets game tickets!

Homework Club
Mondays & Fridays 3:00pm - 6:25pm, Wednesdays 6:00pm - 7:55pm
(Video Game Pizza Party 3:00pm - 6:00pm)
Homework Club is where kids can bring any school work they have been given (they can always ask their teachers for extra work!), and have a space with snacks, supplies, laptops, internet access and tutors to help them with their work, all provided free of charge.
Homework club kids get spoiled at WBYO with treats, outings and anything else we can think of! Kids with straight A effort report cards get even more prizes and fun activities of their choice!

J/A Book Club
Sundays 2:oo - 4:00pm | PROGRAM POSTPONED (Phone/email WBYO for Jouana's and Annalis's Book Club Creators contact information) J/A Book Club is a new program created by our very own WBYO kids. Each month a different J/A Book Club member is selected to choose the book and restaurant of the month. The J/A Book Club members then meet together every Sunday afternoon to read together on Zoom. The last Sunday of every month, Brunch/restaurant is delivered to each J/A Book Club participant to munch as they debate the book. We log every book they read, and for every 10 books they get to attend a Bookworms outing! Past outings include the zoo, movies and more |

Small Time Fun Pack
Mondays 4:30pm - 6:30pm
Meets at 646 Portage, then walk together to Gordon Bell High School and back.
This program is geared towards kids 4 -7 years old and is held at the Gordon Bell High School gym. We walk with the kids from the centre to the school and back again. Older children are welcome to join, keeping in mind that the day is for the younger group. There are many older children that come on a regular basis and help the younger ones play gym games. We play games like Frozen Tag, Ghostbusters, Simon Says, Everybody's It, Snatch the Chicken etc. As always, all games played are chosen and voted on by the children! Indoor shoes are recommended, but feel free to play in sock feet!

Pen Pals
Mondays 6:30-7:30pm | PROGRAM POSTPONED For WBYO's Pen Pals writing club kids normally visit various downtown hotspots every Wednesday where they spend approximately an hour and a half writing letters to everyone from their cousin in Florida to the Prime Minister in Ottawa. This hour and a half increases not only our children's love for literacy but also brings their penmanship to new and extraordinary heights. Due to this socially distancing time, Pen Pals has been moved to Mondays from 7:30pm - 8:30pm via Zoom. |
Board Game Sign Out
Mondays 6-8:30pm | PROGRAM POSTPONED
Kids are encouraged to sign-out any of our family-friendly board games for one week with a permission form signed by their parent/guardian.
Family MEGA Bingo Night
Every 1st Tuesday of the month during the school year, 6:30pm - 8:25pm
Bingo is fun for everyone because no one leaves without winning something, while teaching children basic number recognition! Children who are learning have difficulty with numbers may be assisted by our older participants.
Family Movie Night
Last Friday of every Month, 5:30pm - 7:30pm
We watch family-friendly movies at our centre. All the movies are rated G/PG and are voted on by our kids! Free unlimited popcorn when you eat all your veggies!
Don't forget to request your family movie snack pack!
Kids Laundry Night
Tuesdays 5:30-8:30pm
Kids are encouraged to bring in a small amount of their laundry to be washed during program hours. They are taught how to do their own laundry and laundry soap, dryer sheets and machines are provided free of charge. Laundry will be returned on the following day if needed.
Guitar Lessons
Tuesdays 4 - 8:30pm | PROGRAM POSTPONED
Free private lessons for 20 - 30 minutes each. Guitars are provided for lesson time only. Call us to sign up!
Yoga Party
Tuesdays 5:30-6:30pm
Volunteer professional yoga teachers come to instruct yoga at our centre. Youth will learn poses and play yoga games, including Yoga Machine and Yoga Puzzles. Namaste!

Jam Session
Every 3rd Tuesday of the month 5:30-6:25pm
Kids get the opportunity to learn about different instruments through free play, circle and special music performances. Participants are provided with a variety of instruments including drums, keyboards, accordions, recorders, and tambourines to play and are taught the basics of rhythm and playing by our musical volunteers and staff.
After School Gym Time
Wednesdays 3:30-5:25pm
This program is held in the gym at Mulvey School. We play games like change lines, doctor dodge-ball, musical hoops and line-tag. All games played are chosen and voted on by the children! All equipment is provided. Indoor shoes are recommended, but feel free to come in sock feet!
Video Game Pizza Party (Homework Club Kids only!)
Wednesdays 3-6 pm (6:00pm - 7:55pm every 1st Wednesday of the month)
This program is held at our centre and is a chance for homework club kids to unwind after school by challenging each other, or one of our awesome volunteers, to any of our 450+ non-violent video-games prior to hitting the homework books.
Kids can use our Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, DS, Wii U, Xbox 360, Atari, Sega Genesis, Wii, 35 handheld Gameboys and PSP's, Beyblades, air hockey, foosball and more!

Arts and Crafts
Wednesdays 3:00-5:15pm via Zoom
We supply kids with craft and art supplies, so they can get creative!
All supplies are provided free of cost for all participants.
The Yum-Yum Club
Wednesdays 6:00-8:00pm (3:00pm - 5:55pm every 1st Wednesday of the month)
Kids are encouraged to join our amazing volunteers as they instruct and prepare delicious and healthy meals for all the kids at our centre! Here kids will learn not only about nutrition and cooking techniques, but also about geography and culture while cooking as we talk about a dish’s history and where it comes from. Little hands learn how to peel vegetables, count and measure, while older participants learn how to handle sharper knifes, how to use kitchen appliances and that a watched pot never boils...

On these nights we play team games like basketball, soccer, soccer-baseball, volleyball, baseball and floor hockey. New teams are chosen each week, so there is always a place for everyone. As always, all games played are chosen and voted on by the children!

Kids' World
Fridays 6:30pm - 8:30pm Kids in grades 5-10 are welcome to join our Kids World at our centre. Programming is self-directed by the kidss and often involves exciting and empowering activities, from seeing professional soccer games, learning how to cook, Horse Back Riding, Rock Climbing, anti-bullying art projects, build rocket cars, attend Festival du Voyageur, watch movies, and a Kids World book club! Last year the kids participated in a year-long theatre production with the help of the Winnipeg Arts Council and theatre director, Hope McIntyre! |
Book Jam
Fridays 6:30-8:30pm
An exciting literacy program for youth looking to increase their reading skills through games, crafts, cooking etc. in a fun, safe environment at our centre. Volunteers can never get enough stories, so they are here waiting for the next kid to read to them from our constantly updated library. Pretend to be a spy and find clues to solve a mystery! Make cupcakes by following a recipe! Or take an imaginary trip to Neverland with Peter Pan as your guide! Parents (as always!) are encouraged to join in!
